Window Replacement: Insert and full-frame window replacement

Drafty, fogged or failing windows replaced, insert or full-frame.

The service

What It Covers

We inspect the windows, the frames and the wall around each opening, and tell you whether a repair or a replacement makes sense. When the frame is sound, the new window goes in as an insert. When the frame or the opening is damaged, we do a full-frame replacement, then finish the trim and sealing.

What's Included

  • A look at each window, its frame and the wall around the opening
  • An honest call on repair or replacement, window by window
  • Measuring every opening before the windows are ordered
  • Insert replacement where the existing frame is sound
  • Full-frame replacement where the frame or the opening is damaged
  • Trim, sealing and a final review of every window

Questions

Window Replacement Questions

How do I know my windows need replacing?

Common signs are drafts, fog or moisture between the panes of double-pane glass, water coming in, damaged frames, and windows that stick or won't lock. Some of these can be repaired, so we check before recommending a replacement.

Should I repair or replace my windows?

Worn weatherstripping or broken hardware can often be repaired. Widespread rot, a damaged frame or repeated failures usually make replacement the better long-term choice.

What is the difference between insert and full-frame replacement?

An insert fits a new window into the existing frame, when that frame is still sound. A full-frame replacement removes the old frame too, and is the right call when the frame or the opening around it is damaged.

Which windows should I choose?

It depends on the house and the room. Double-hung, casement, sliding, picture and awning windows each open differently. Vinyl needs little upkeep, fiberglass is durable, and wood suits some older homes. Double-pane glass with a Low-E coating and a careful install matter as much as the frame.
